Last week I received a shipment containing the most adorable plants in my collection. On September 2nd, I submitted an order for two micro-miniature African violets from The Violet Barn – ‘Rob’s Wascally Wabbit’ (variegated foliage) and ‘SK First Love’ (non-variegated, Russian). This past Thursday they arrived in perfect condition and I couldn’t be happier with them!

I knew they were going to be tiny (the descriptions say they are shipped in 2″ pots) but my goodness! These guys are absolutely miniscule! The aforementioned 2″ pots turned out to be plastic Dixie cups with a hole punched into the bottom of each.

‘SK First Love’ with my finger for scale – so tiny!

‘Rob’s Wascally Wabbit’ with my finger for scale – the baby pink variegation on this micro-miniature is so sweet!
Once I accepted how tiny they are (superseded by a photoshoot) I got them situated on their shelf and noticed something incredible… ‘SK First Love’ had the tiniest flower bud I’ve ever seen! This revelation kickstarted another round of “awwwwww”s and “babe, look how tiny!”s until I finally let the newcomers be in silence to take in their new digs.

‘SK First Love’ + bud

The teeniest, tiniest bud in the entire universe!
They’ve been getting acquainted with the other violets on my new gesneriad-dedicated bamboo shelf (Amazon) since then. Here’s hoping we have little baby blossoms from ‘SK First Love’ soon!
Happy violeting,
Amy
